Spontaneous Intraventricular Hemorrhage Associated with Prolonged Diosmin Therapy

Neurocritical Care, 2011
The prevalent use of anticoagulation in a growing elderly population has led to an increasing incidence of intracerebral hemorrhage. Furthermore, the understanding of the interactions and adverse effects of oral anticoagulants when used with non-FDA approved drugs is limited.

Effects of Micronization on Digestive Absorption of Diosmin

Phlebology: The Journal of Venous Disease, 1994
Objective: To investigate the effect of diosmin particle size on the rate and extent of absorption and excretion of total radioactivity, following oral administration of micronized and non-micronized [14C]-diosmin to New Zealand White rabbits. Design: This study was conducted in a 2 x 12 cross-over design at a uniform target dose level of 10 mg/kg, and

A pharmacokinetic study of 3H-diosmine.

Arzneimittel-Forschung, 1977
A pharmacokinetic study of 3H-labelled 7-rhamnoglycoside of 5,7,3'-trihydroxy-4'-methoxyflavone (3H-diosmine) administered both i.v. and orally, shows the great ease with which it is absorbed in digestion. A very sharp difference in elimination between the two modes of treatment must be associated with a difference in metabolism.

Pharmacokinetic studies of diosmin and diosmetin in perfused rat liver

Xenobiotica, 1993
1. The kinetics and metabolism of diosmin and diosmetin were investigated in the isolated perfused rat liver in order to assess the role of the liver. 2. Diosmetin and especially diosmin disappeared quickly from the perfusion medium. 3. Both flavonoids were rapidly metabolized and diosmetin was partly excreted in bile as the glucuronide and sulphate ...

[Studies on pharmacokinetics of diosmin in rats].

Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2008
To establish a HPLC method for the determination of diosmin in Rats plasma and to study the pharmacokinetics of diosmin in Rats.Rats were given diosmin with 3 doses as 225, 325, 425 mg x kg(-1). Blood samples were collected at different times after oral administration. The plasma concentration of diosmin was determined by HPLC, and the pharmacokinetics

Diosmin: A potential natural drug

Global Journal of Basic Science
Diosmin is of potential interest for its possible role in human health. Diosmin is a flavone glycoside that is a member of the class of flavonoids, which are secondary metabolites found in large quantities in plants and vegetables. Diosmin is specifically the glycoside of the aglycon diosmetin (3′, 5, 7-trihydroxy-4′-methoxyflavone), which is found ...

[Activity of purified diosmin in the treatment of hemorrhoids].

La Clinica terapeutica, 2001
Several theories on the etio-pathogenesis and physio-pathology of hemorrhoids have been up to now proposed. From the fisio-pathological viewpoint, particular importance is retained by the vascular factor, which in its turn is influenced by mechanical and sphinceric factors, that impair the venous back-flow.
