Artificial microRNA suppresses C9ORF72 variants and decreases toxic dipeptide repeat proteins in vivo

Gene Therapy, 2023
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons, causing progressive muscle weakness and respiratory failure. The presence of an expanded hexanucleotide repeat in chromosome 9 open reading frame 72 (C9ORF72) is the most frequent mutation causing familial ALS and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

Cloning and characterization of cDNAs for novel proteins with glutamic acid-proline dipeptide tandem repeats

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Structure and Expression, 1996
cDNAs with identical 3' sequences containing a hexanucleotide repeat -(GAGCCG)9- were isolated from rat pheochromocytoma and brain cDNA libraries. The cDNA with the longest open reading frame codes for a protein of 24.6 kDa containing a 16-fold -(Glu-Pro)- dipeptide repeat within a glutamate and proline rich region at its deduced C-terminus. cDNAs with

Plasmodium falciparum: D260, an Intraerythrocytic Parasite Protein, Is a Member of the Glutamic Acid Dipeptide-Repeat Family of Proteins

Experimental Parasitology, 1995
Members of a serologically cross-reacting family of proteins including Ag332 and Pf11.1, megadalton proteins of schizont-infected red blood cells, and gametocytes, respectively, and Pf155-RESA, a 155-kDa protein of ring-infected red blood cells, have been reported to share amino acid repeat sequences.
