Mutation and Diversity of Diphtheria Toxin in Corynebacterium ulcerans

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2019
Corynebacterium ulcerans infection is emerging in humans. We conducted phylogenetic analyses of C. ulcerans and C. diptheriae, which revealed diverse diphtheria toxin in C. ulcerans.

Autochthonous outbreak of respiratory diphtheria caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Germany, September 2024

open access: yesEurosurveillance
In September 2024, a school-aged child (P1), unvaccinated against diphtheria, was hospitalised with severe respiratory diphtheria caused by toxigenic Corynebacterium diphtheriae. P1 subsequently died from the disease.

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell‐Mediated Intercellular Communication: Mapping the Interactome for Skeletal Muscle Homeostasis and Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liu et al. define a systems‐level interactome of fibroadipogenic progenitor (FAP)‐mediated signaling in skeletal muscle by integrating single‐cell transcriptomics with FAP depletion‐based perturbation analysis. Functional interrogation using a conditioned media bioassay links predicted signaling to multicellular outcomes, establishing a framework to ...

RISK FACTORS ASSOCIATED TO DIPHTHERIA OUTBREAK IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES [PDF]

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Kesehatan Masyarakat, 2018
Background: Diphtheria is a vaccine preventable disease. In the last 10 years a significant fluctuation of diphtheria incidence led to an outbreak reported in some developing countries. The aim of this study was to review about risk factors in developing

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.

Gasdermin D‐Mediated Release of IL‐33 Results in Fetal Brain Developmental Abnormalities During Maternal Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Under colitis, Gsdmd mediates the release of IL‐33 from the epithelium of pregnant mice. IL‐33 can cross the placenta and enhance the proliferative capacity of neural stem cells, ultimately resulting in behavioral deficits in the offspring. Excessive pyroptosis in the colonic epithelium also triggers the translocation of LPS, which in turn increases ...

tBid‐Mediated Genetic Ablation of Connective Tissue Cells Reveals Their Key Regulatory Function During Limb Regeneration in Axolotls

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We establish a tBid‐mediated cell ablation system in axolotls, achieve rapid and efficient ablation of multiple cell types, including muscle stem cell, spinal cord cell, and connective tissue (CT) cells. We investigate the role of CT using tBid‐mediated CT ablation and identify its essential role for limb development and regeneration.
