CD11c‐Expressing Microglia Are Transient, Driven by Interactions With Apoptotic Cells

open access: yesGlia, Volume 73, Issue 5, Page 1077-1089, May 2025.
Main Points Recognition of apoptotic cells drives transient microglial CD11c expression. CD11c microglia are highly phagocytic and have elevated lysosomal content. CD11c state is partly dependent on Axl and they transition out as apoptotic cells are cleared.
