Direction dependency in coaxial laser double wire Direct Energy Deposition
Coaxial Laser wire Direct Energy Deposition (L-DED) promises a direction-independent buildup due to a centric supply of the welding material. To fabricate Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs), a processing head was designed that is capable of supplying two wire materials into the processing zone.

This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

While traditional cold metal transfer direct energy deposition (T-CMT-DED) can be sped up by increasing the deposition current; this often negatively affects the deposited part's shape and microstructure due to increased heat input.

Effect of Direct Energy Deposition Process Parameters on Single-Track Deposits of Alloy 718
The effect of three important process parameters, namely laser power, scanning speed and laser stand-off distance on the deposit geometry, microstructure and segregation characteristics in direct energy deposited alloy 718 specimens has been studied ...

Cosmic microwave background constraints on light dark matter candidates
Unveiling the nature of cosmic dark matter (DM) is an urgent issue in cosmology. Here we make use of a strategy based on the search for the imprints left on the cosmic microwave background temperature and polarization spectra by the energy deposition due

The origin of defects induced in ultra-pure germanium by Electron Beam Deposition [PDF]
The creation of point defects in the crystal lattices of various semiconductors by subthreshold events has been reported on by a number of groups. These observations have been made in great detail using sensitive electrical techniques but there is still ...

CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
