Direct Instantaneous Torque Control in Direct Drive Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors—a New Approach

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2007
In this paper, a novel direct instantaneous torque control scheme for a direct drive (DD) permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is presented. A hybrid control structure combining the internal model principle and the variable structure control (VSC) approach is proposed. First, a variable structure torque controller is adopted to regulate the torque

Instantaneous Torque Estimation in Sensorless Direct-Torque-Controlled Brushless DC Motors

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2005
A key issue in the direct torque control of permanent-magnet brushless dc motors is the estimation of the instantaneous electromagnetic torque, while sensorless control is often advantageous. A sliding-mode observer is employed to estimate the nonsinusoidal back-electromotive-force waveform, and a simplified extended Kalman filter is used to estimate ...

Instantaneous power control-an alternative to vector and direct torque control?

Conference Record of the 2000 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. Thirty-Fifth IAS Annual Meeting and World Conference on Industrial Applications of Electrical Energy (Cat. No.00CH37129), 2002
This paper presents a new algorithm for the control of AC machines based on the concept of controlling the instantaneous real and imaginary power. This strategy, called instantaneous power control (IPC), allows decoupled control of the torque and flux in the machine.

Optimal torque sharing in direct instantaneous torque control of switched reluctance motors

2015 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2015
In this paper, optimal waveforms to control constant instantaneous torque of switched reluctance motors while minimizing copper losses are computed by using the pattern search as an optimization algorithm. Optimal torque sharing using two quadratic and one linear functions is proposed to approximate the optimal torque waveforms accurately.

Direct Instantaneous Torque and Axial Force Control Method for Linear-Rotary Switched Reluctance Motor With Two Radial Windings [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Electronics
Dual-winding linear-rotary switched reluctance motors (LRSRMs) suffer from large torque ripple and severe coupling between the torque winding and the axial-force winding.

Simulation of the Direct Instantaneous Torque Control of SRM using MATLAB

International Conference on Automatic Control and Artificial Intelligence (ACAI 2012), 2012
Direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) method of the switched reluctance motor (SRM) is studied in this paper. Modeling and simulations of the DITC system have been conducted with MATLAB/Simulink. The simulation results accurately reflect the actual operation states of SRM. It is verified that DITC method can effectively reduce the torque ripple of

Sensorless direct instantaneous torque control for switched reluctance machines

2005 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2005
This paper presents a position-sensorless torque controller for switched reluctance machines (SRMs) based on direct instantaneous torque control (DITC). An indirect position estimation to eliminate the need of the position encoder is developed based on current-flux-linkage method.

Torque ripple reduction of SRM using advanced direct instantaneous torque control scheme

2007 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2007
In this paper, an advanced torque control scheme of SRM using DITC(Direct Instantaneous Torque Control) and PWM(pulse width modulation) is presented. Different from conventional DITC method, proposed method uses one or two switching modes at every sampling time, instead of only one switching mode.

Direct instantaneous torque control combined with torque sharing function strategy for switched reluctance drive

2012 Third International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing, 2012
The inherent highly nonlinearity of switched reluctance motor not only makes it difficult to eliminate torque ripple with conventional average torque control techniques, but also restricts its application in the high-performance servo systems. A novel control strategy combing direct instantaneous torque control with the torque sharing function control ...
