Explicit Object Representation by Sparse Neural Codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Neurons have been identified in the human medial temporal lobe (MTL) that display a strong selectivity for only a few stimuli (such as familiar individuals or landmark buildings) out of perhaps 100 presented to the test subject.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

A semilinear Dirichlet problem involving the fractional Laplacian in R+ n

open access: yesAdvanced Nonlinear Studies
We investigate the Dirichelt problem involving the fractional Laplacian in the upper half-space R+n=x∈Rn∣x1>0 ${\mathbb{R}}_{+}^{n}=\left\{x\in {\mathbb{R}}^{n}\mid {x}_{1}{ >}0\right\}$ :  (−Δ)su(x)=f(u(x)),x∈R+n, u(x)>0,x∈R+n, u(x)=0,x∉R+n.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Modelling Low-Frequency Sound Propagation in a Ducted Atmosphere Using a Semi-Analytic Finite Element Method [PDF]

open access: yes
Winds and temperature inversions can cause acoustic refraction, enabling the efficient propagation of low-frequency sound over long distances within acoustic waveguides. In this study, the semi-analytic finite element (SAFE) method is employed to predict

Efficient modeling of atmospheric infrasound propagation with the Semi-Analytical-Finite-Element (SAFE) method

open access: yes
Downward refraction in the lower atmosphere, attributed to winds and temperature inversion, can enable infrasound to efficiently propagate over long distances inside acoustic waveguides.

Simulation Model and Ultrasound Study for Engineering Interfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Friction and wear are experienced both in terms of machine operation and finance. They impact, amongst other things, energy consumption and material loss, product manufacture and component maintenance.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...
