A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Near-Field Aeroacoustics of Spanwise Forcing on a Transonic Wing: A DNS Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The transonic airflow around a supercritical wing with a shock wave is described via direct numerical simulations. Flow control for turbulent drag reduction is applied via streamwise traveling waves of spanwise velocity applied on a finite portion of the

Experimentation and direct numerical simulation of self-similar convergent detonation wave

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2011
The propagation of self similar convergent detonation wave in TATB-based explosive composition was studied both experimentally and numerically. The device constists in a 50 mm cylinder of TATB surrounded by an HMX tube.

Direct numerical simulation of axisymmetric turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Fluids, 2017
The dynamics of decaying strictly axisymmetric, incompressible turbulence is investigated using direct numerical simulations. It is found that the angular momentum is a robust invariant of the system. It is further shown that long-lived coherent structures are generated by the flow, associated with stationary solutions of the Euler equations.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Low Reynolds Number Flow Around Tori of Different Slenderness Γ

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
We present the results of axisymmetric and three-dimensional numerical simulations of the flow around a torus in the low Reynolds number regime [ 10 − 2 ; 3 × 10 3 ] and aspect-ratio 0 < Γ = 2 a / R ≤ 2 (core diameter ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...
