Direct numerical simulation of turbulent premixed methane-ammonia-air jet flames

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology
Methane-ammonia blended combustion has emerged as a promising strategy to reduce carbon emissions while maximizing the utilization of existing fossil-fuel-based burners, serving as a viable intermediate step towards carbon neutrality.

Direct Numerical Simulation of Turbulence at Lower Costs

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Mathematics, 1997
Direct numerical simulation (DNS) is the most accurate, but also the most expensive, way of computing turbulent flow. To cut the costs of DNS, we consider a family of second-order explicit one-leg time-integration methods and look for the method with the best linear stability properties.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Direct numerical simulation of turbulent flow past a trailing edge and the associated noise generation

open access: yes, 2008
Direct numerical simulations (DNS) are conducted of turbulent flow passing an infinitely thin trailing edge (TE). The objective is to investigate the turbulent flow field in the vicinity of the TE and the associated broadband noise generation.

Channel flow over large cube roughness: a direct numerical simulation study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Computations of channel flow with rough walls comprising staggered arrays of cubes having various plan area densities are presented and discussed. The cube height h is12.5% of the channel half-depth and Reynolds numbers (u? h/?) are typically around 700 –

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Turbulent Premixed Flame Kernel Growth During The Early Stages Using Direct Numerical Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this thesis Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) is used to investigate the development of turbulent premixed flame kernels during the early stages of growth typical of the period following spark ignition.

Near-Field Aeroacoustics of Spanwise Forcing on a Transonic Wing: A DNS Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The transonic airflow around a supercritical wing with a shock wave is described via direct numerical simulations. Flow control for turbulent drag reduction is applied via streamwise traveling waves of spanwise velocity applied on a finite portion of the
