Numerical Simulation of a Turbulent Flow in a Channel with Surface Mounted Cubes [PDF]
In this paper we report on a fourth-order, spectro-consistent simulation of a complex turbulent flow. A spatial discretization of a convection-diffusion equation is termed spectro-consistent if the spectral properties of the convective and diffusive ...

Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

In-service weld repair by direct deposition: Numerical simulation and experimental validation
In-Service Welding is a technological process for which interconnection and repair of pipelines can be made while they are in operation, before making it two main risks need to be assessed: hydrogen cracking and burn-through.

Direct Numerical Simulation of Compressible Turbulent Flows
This paper reviews the authors' recent studies on compressible turbulence by using direct numerical simulation (DNS), including DNS of isotropic (decaying) turbulence, turbulent mixing-layer, turbulent boundary-layer and shock/boundary-layer interaction.

The resilience of the logarithmic law to pressure gradients: evidence from direct numerical simulation [PDF]
Wall-bounded turbulence in pressure gradients is studied using direct numerical simulation (DNS) of a Couette–Poiseuille flow. The motivation is to include adverse pressure gradients, to complement the favourable ones present in the well-studied ...

Direct numerical simulation of noninvasive channel healing in electrical field
Noninvasive channel healing is a new idea to repair the broken pipe wall, using external electric fields to drive iron particles to the destination. The repair can be done in the normal operation of the pipe flow without any shutdown of the pipeline so ...

Direct Pore‐Scale Numerical Simulation of Microbially Induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation
Microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) is a promising method for eco‐friendly solutions in geotechincal engineering. MICP involves highly coupled processes in geochemistry and bacterial metabolism that take place in a porous medium ...

Direct numerical simulation of driven cavity flows [PDF]
Direct numerical simulations of 2D driven cavity flows have been performed. The simulations exhibit that the flow converges to a periodically oscillating state at Re=11,000, and reveal that the dynamics is chaotic at Re=22,000. The dimension of the attractor and the Kolmogorov entropy have been computed.

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

The effect of compressibility on turbulent shear flow: a rapid-distortion-theory and direct-numerical-simulation study [PDF]
The influence of compressibility upon the structure of homogeneous sheared turbulence is investigated. For the case in which the rate of shear is much larger than the rate of nonlinear interactions of the turbulence, the modification caused by ...
