This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Multi-faceted monitoring of powder flow rate variability in directed energy deposition
Powder flow rate is a key parameter in Directed Energy Deposition (DED) processes. During a typical build, if powder flow rate is reduced for just 1 second, 30 mm of melt track is affected.

CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Inconel 718 two ways: Powder bed fusion vs. directed energy deposition
Additive manufacturing (AM) research has grown massively in the last few decades, with applications ranging from the medical sector to automotive. AM of nickel superalloys is of great interest for the aerospace sector due to their mechanical performance ...

We compute exactly the asymptotic distribution of scaled height in a (1+1)--dimensional anisotropic ballistic deposition model by mapping it to the Ulam problem of finding the longest nondecreasing subsequence in a random sequence of integers.

Additive manufacturing provides achievability for the fabrication of bimetallic and multi-material structures; however, the material compatibility and bondability directly affect the parts’ formability and final quality. It is essential to understand the

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Cost Modelling for Powder Bed Fusion and Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing
Additive manufacturing (AM) is increasingly used for fabricating parts directly from digital models, usually by depositing and bonding successive layers of various materials such as polymers, metals, ceramics, and composites.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
