Efficient Sentence Embedding using Discrete Cosine Transform [PDF]

open access: yesConference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing, 2019
Vector averaging remains one of the most popular sentence embedding methods in spite of its obvious disregard for syntactic structure. While more complex sequential or convolutional networks potentially yield superior classification performance, the ...

Three-dimensional nonrigid reconstruction based on probability model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2020
Most nonrigid motions use shape-based methods to solve the problem; however, the use of discrete cosine transform trajectory-based methods to solve the nonrigid motion problem is also very prominent.

Two-dimensional DCT/IDCT architecture

open access: yes, 2003
A fully parallel architecture for the computation of a two-dimensional (2-D) discrete cosine transform (DCT), based on row-column decomposition is presented.

CHARACTERIZATION OF BREAST TISSUES IN COMBINED TRANSFORMS DOMAIN USING SUPPORT VECTOR MACHINES [PDF]

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2011
Mammography is a well established imaging technique for showing tissue abnormalities of breast and has been proven to reduce death rate due to breast cancer in screened populations of women.

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

Directional Analytic Discrete Cosine Frames

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Block frames called directional analytic discrete cosine frames (DADCFs) are proposed for sparse image representation. In contrast to conventional overlapped frames, the proposed DADCFs require a reduced amount of 1) computational complexity, 2) memory ...

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...

Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

Discrete cosine transforms on quantum computers [PDF]

open access: yesISPA 2001. Proceedings of the 2nd International Symposium on Image and Signal Processing and Analysis. In conjunction with 23rd International Conference on Information Technology Interfaces (IEEE Cat. No.01EX480), 2002
A classical computer does not allow to calculate a discrete cosine transform on N points in less than linear time. This trivial lower bound is no longer valid for a computer that takes advantage of quantum mechanical superposition, entanglement, and interference principles.

Frequency cosine transform: A bridge between gradient based frequency transform and discrete cosine transform

open access: yes, 2007
Discrete cosine transform(DCT) is one of the most powerful tools in image processing. In this paper, we show that each basis of the two dimensional discrete cosine transform(2D-DCT) is an 'eigenvector' of the frequency matrix which is used to ...
