Discrete Cosine Transform in JPEG Compression
Image Compression has become an absolute necessity in today's day and age. With the advent of the Internet era, compressing files to share among other users is quintessential. Several efforts have been made to reduce file sizes while still maintain image quality in order to transmit files even on limited bandwidth connections.

Coloured computational imaging with single-pixel detectors based on a 2D discrete cosine transform [PDF]
We propose and demonstrate a computational imaging technique that uses structured illumination based on a two-dimensional discrete cosine transform to perform imaging with a single-pixel detector.

On The Use of Discrete Cosine Transform Polarity Spectrum in Speech Enhancement
This paper investigates the use of short-time Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) for speech enhancement. We denote the absolute values and signs of the DCT spectral coefficients as the Absolute Spectrum (AS) and Polarity Spectrum (PoS), respectively.

Systematic Exploration of 3D Concrete Printing Parameters for Conformal Printing on Sloped Surfaces
A conformal slicing algorithm is developed for robotic 3D concrete printing (3DCP) on sloped surfaces as a first step toward printing slab‐on‐grade foundations on uneven terrain. Systematic experiments quantify the effects of nozzle speed, extrusion rate, and toolpath direction on filament dimension and stability.

QBP1 Peptide as a Potential Anti‐Amyloidogenic Therapy for Type 2 Diabetes: An In Vitro Study
The anti‐amyloidogenic peptide QBP1 effectively halts human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) aggregation, preventing the formation of toxic β‐structured intermediates. Through a combination of biophysical assays, molecular dynamics, and cell‐based studies, QBP1 is shown to preserve β‐cell viability and metabolic homeostasis, positioning it as a ...

Dissecting the Ecological Structure of Health and Disease in the Global Gut Microbiome
We introduce Wiredancer, a framework that identifies three continuous ecological factors of the gut microbiota. These factors exhibit distinct patterns across health and disease, jointly capturing disrupted ecological stability and offering a new perspective for precision diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.
