An evaluation of a self-instructional package for teaching tutors to conduct discrete-trials teaching with children with autism

open access: yes, 2012
The present study examined the effectiveness of a self-instructional package for teaching discrete-trials teaching (DTT) to Applied Behaviour Analysis tutors at the St.Amant Applied Behaviour Analysis Program for Children with Autism. A modified multiple- baseline design across participants was used, and replicated six times.

Working with laws, regularities and singularities in biology: The evolution of mammalian red blood cell size as a case study

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Phylogenetic comparative methods have been used in recent literature to work with laws and test for regularities (evolutionary associations of quantitative features) and evolutionary singularities (features that evolved in a single taxon). We analyzed these uses epistemologically, taking the evolution of red‐blood‐cell mean corpuscular volume (

Evaluation of a self-instructional package for teaching tutors to conduct discrete-trials teaching with children with autism

open access: yes, 2011
A widely used instructional method for teaching children with autism is Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), and a main component of ABA programming is discrete-trials teaching (DTT). DTT is made up of a series of brief teaching trials, with each trial including an antecedent (e.g., an instruction from the teacher), a response from the child, and an ...

Male reproductive system in stenopodidean shrimps: Unveiling basal reproductive traits in shrimp‐like Pleocyemata (Stenopodidae and Spongicolidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Stenopodidea represents one of the basal lineages within Pleocyemata, yet the male reproductive system (MRS) of this group remains poorly understood, with limited information available regarding its morphology and function. This study provides the first detailed description of the MRS in four stenopodidean shrimp species from two families ...

Exploring student perceptions of integrating mixed reality with cadaveric teaching in undergraduate neuroanatomy education: A qualitative study

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Mixed reality (MR) using head‐mounted displays provides three‐dimensional visualizations that have been suggested to enhance learning when used alongside conventional anatomy teaching in medical education. This study explored student perceptions of the integration of MR and traditional cadaveric learning, and their optimal delivery to support ...
