The addition reaction of interelement compounds with heteroatom–heteroatom single bonds to unsaturated bonds under photoirradiation is an important method for the efficient and atom-economical construction of carbon–heteroatom bonds. However, in practice, the desired addition reaction is sometimes unable to proceed as expected due to the low efficiency

There are many examples of bioactive, disulfide‐rich peptides and proteins whose biological activity relies on proper disulfide connectivity. Regioselective disulfide bond formation is a strategy for the synthesis of these bioactive peptides, but many of these methods suffer from a lack of orthogonality between pairs of protected cysteine (Cys ...

Chalcogen bonding in crystalline diselenides and selenocyanates: From molecules of pharmaceutical interest to conducting materials [PDF]
Abstract Organic diselenides are nowadays investigated for pharmaceutical applications, as well as in material science in molecular (semi)conductors. In both application’s domains, their interactions with Lewis bases, in solution or in the solid state, has been shown to play a crucial role in their biological activity or in their electronic structure.

A Survey of Interlayer Interaction Models for Graphene and Other 2D Materials
Van der Waals interactions arising from electronic polarization at atomically close interfaces generate corrugated interlayer energy landscapes that govern normal and tangential tractions. This review presents an overview of quantum, atomistic, analytical, and continuum modeling approaches, highlighting their roles across length scales in capturing ...

Trapping x‐ray radiation damage from homolytic Se–C bond cleavage in BnSeSeBn crystals (Bn=benzyl, CH2C6H5) [PDF]
Irradiation of dibenzyl diselenide BnSeSeBn with X-ray or UV-light cleaves the Se-C and the Se-Se bonds, inducing stable and metastable radical states. They are inevitably important to all natural and life sciences.
