+Chlorination by-products in indoor swimming pools: Development of a pilot pool unit and impact of operating parameters

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
Chlorine addition in swimming pools ensures the microbiological quality of the water and the bathers’ safety. However, water chlorination is associated with disinfection byproducts (DBP) formation and adverse health effects.

Maskless Fabrication of PLA‐Based Neural Arrays for CNS Recording and Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Biodegradable neural interfaces enable bidirectional communication with the CNS. Through electrochemical characterization, ageing tests with impedance monitoring, and in vivo validation, we assess the performance of PLA‐based epicortical and spinal implants.

Thermochemical Micro‐Explosion for Prompt Thrombolysis via Proximal Injection of Liquid Alkali Metal

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a micro‐explosive thermochemical thrombolysis (METCT) therapy via injectable liquid alkali metal encapsulated in dimethyl silicone (LAM@oil). METCT enables prompt and safe vascular recanalization within 90 s. Critically, the LAM@oil system demonstrates significantly higher thrombolytic efficacy compared to clinically available thrombolytic ...

Health risks and predictive modeling of disinfection byproducts in swimming pools

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
Disinfection is an indispensable water treatment process used to inactivate pathogens and prevent outbreaks of infectious diseases in swimming pools. However, toxic disinfection byproducts (DBPs) are inevitably formed during the process.

Deep Learning Network‐Tailored Microenvironment Matching of 4D Bioprinting Bioactive Scaffolds for Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A DLN dataset was built to analyze MABS composition versus in vitro/in vivo osteogenesis and angiogenesis. An MLP neural network, taking BG morphological parameters as input, extracts bioactive features from these datasets. A rabbit tibial defect model then validates 4D‐printed MABS for adaptability and bone regeneration in critical defects.

Biomimetic Nanoplatform for Dual Target Nano‐Metabolic Therapy in Diabetes‐Associated Biofilm Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic GOx/Arg‐loaded nanoplatform produces nitric oxide through an in situ catalytic cascade reaction, enabling dual‐target metabolic regulation in diabetes‐associated biofilm infections. Bacterial metabolism is disrupted, and macrophage immunometabolism is reprogrammed, resulting in biofilm eradication, immune restoration, and enhanced ...

Effects of household handling on disinfection by-products

open access: yesJournal of Natural Resources and Development, 2015
Chlorinated water samples were used to determine the effect of handling modes on disinfection byproducts (DBPs). The DBPs studied were trihalomethanes (THMs), haloacetonitriles (HANs), chloral hydrate (CH), chloropicrin (CP) and 1,1,1-trichloropropanone (

Systematic Position Mapping of Split CRISPR‐Cas12a Activators Enables Highly Sensitive miRNA Detection and Cancer Cell Stratification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Amplification‐free Cas12a diagnostics with split crRNA enable rapid and programmable target recognition, yet insufficient understanding of DNA activator architecture prevents predictable control over trans‐cleavage activity and sensitivity. Here we systematically map over 200 split DNA activator configurations by introducing nicks at every ...

Disinfection of water and its undesirable by-products.

open access: yesKvasný průmysl, 2004
Origin of undesirable harmful disinfection by-products in drinking and service waters is described. These by-products can be found in water as a result of side reactions of chemical disinfection reagents with naturally occurring organic and inorganic ...
