Invitro Activities of Polymyxins and Rifampicin against Carbapenem Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii at a Tertiary Care Hospital from South India [PDF]
Introduction: Acinetobacter baumannii (A.baumannii) is rapidly emerging as a potent organism causing a multitude of nosocomial infections. The organism also carries various resistance mechanisms to antibiotics, making treatment more difficult.

Comparison and Evaluation of Carbenicillin Disks in Diffusion Susceptibility Testing [PDF]
A broad variety of bacterial strains, including 79 Pseudomonas aeruginosa , were studied in an in vitro evaluation of carbenicillin disk susceptibility testing. Regression analysis with both 50-μg and 100-μg carbenicillin disks was carried out.

Evaluation of a Novel System for Rapid Antibacterial Susceptibility Testing [PDF]
Early determination of antibacterial susceptibility increases the success of therapy, decreases unnecessary use of antibacterial agents and side-effects, and lowers the overall healthcare cost. We have evaluated a rapid antibacterial susceptibility test,

Disk diffusion method for susceptibility testing of Neisseria gonorrhoeae [PDF]
The standard medium for disk diffusion and MIC testing of Neisseria gonorrhoeae (that of the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards) was tested to establish zone correlations for the MIC breakpoints currently used in Sweden. Eight gonococcal control strains representing both susceptible and resistant strains and 50 clinical isolates were ...

Evaluation of different methods to detect methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
Summary: The studies suggest that dogs living with human are potential risk of becoming MRSA carrier and increased risk of infections caused by MRSA. Phenotypic methods to detect methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are inadequate.

Disk diffusion susceptibility testing of the Bacteroides fragilis group [PDF]
The susceptibilities of 225 isolates of the Bacteroides fragilis group to six antibiotics were determined by a new disk diffusion test in Wilkins-Chalgren agar and by the standard agar dilution method. For disk diffusion, the bacteria were directly suspended in saline and immediately swabbed onto 15-cm agar plates.
