Laboratory evaluation of phenotypic detection methods of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Although conventional antibiotic susceptibility tests are most commonly performed for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the results of these phenotypic tests are dependent on the standardization of the culture conditions. The aim of the

A Simple Disk-Diffusion Test for Differentiation of Yeast Species [PDF]
A disk-diffusion method for identification of yeasts was developed that depended on their different but distinct susceptibilities to the following chemicals: janus green, ethidium bromide, 2, 3, 5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride, brilliant green, cycloheximide and rhodamine 6G.

: Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe a simple test to predict in vitro efficacy of aztreonam/avibactam (ATM-AVI) combination based on a pre-diffusion assay involving routinely available ceftazidime/avibactam (CAZ-AVI) and aztreonam (ATM ...

Beta-lactam resistance in Gram-negative bacteria, especially Escherichia coli, is a main clinical problem. It is often caused by the production of β-lactamases, particularly extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) or AmpC enzymes.

Fluconazole Disk Diffusion Susceptibility Testing of Candida Species [PDF]
ABSTRACT We describe a simple procedure for detecting fluconazole-resistant yeasts by a disk diffusion method. Forty clinical Candida sp. isolates were tested on RPMI-glucose agar with either 25- or 50-μg fluconazole disks. With 25-μg disks, zones of inhibition of ≥20 mm at 24 h accurately identified 29 of

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Comparative Evaluation of Disc Diffusion and E-test with Broth Micro-dilution in Susceptibility testing of Amphotericin B, Voriconazole and Caspofungin against Clinical Aspergillus isolates [PDF]
Background: Clinical importance of Aspergillus has increased over the past few decades because of rise in immunosuppressive drugs and immune-modulating diseases.

Problems with the disk diffusion test for detection of vancomycin resistance in enterococci [PDF]
A total of 53 strains of enterococci, including recently isolated strains with high-level resistance to vancomycin, were tested for vancomycin susceptibility by broth microdilution and disk diffusion using Mueller-Hinton media with and without supplementation with 5% blood.
