Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Ampicillin disk diffusion susceptibility testing of Haemophilus influenzae

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1987
A total of 114 strains of Haemophilus influenza were characterized with respect to beta-lactamase production and ampicillin MIC. Of this total, 41 strains produced a TEM-type beta-lactamase, and ampicillin MICs for these strains were greater than or equal to 2.0 microgram/ml.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Evaluation of Mueller-Hinton agar for disk diffusion susceptibility tests [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1983
Twelve lots of commercially prepared Mueller-Hinton agar from four medium manufacturers were evaluated for performance with recommended quality control organisms, medium pH, agar depth and uniformity, and characteristics of the zones of inhibition. Only 2 of 12 lots were acceptable for disk diffusion susceptibility tests.

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

Phenotype Characterization of Beta-Lactamase Producing Enterobacteriaceae in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in 2011

open access: yesActa Medica Indonesiana, 2016
Aim: the goal of this study is to understand the phenotype characteristic of beta-lactamase enzymes producing Enterobacteriaceae, such as ESBL, AmpC, and carbapenemase.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Tentative interpretive criteria for disk diffusion susceptibility testing of sparfloxacin [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1993
Susceptibility to sparfloxacin was tested simultaneously by the agar dilution and disk diffusion methods. For tests with 5-micrograms sparfloxacin disks, we propose that the breakpoints for the susceptibility and resistance categories should be > or = 19 and < or = 15 mm, respectively. Most minor discrepancies involved tests with pseudomonads.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Interpretive Criteria for Cefamandole and Cephalothin Disk Diffusion Susceptibility Tests [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1979
A multi-center study of 1,838 clinical isolates established the accuracy of diffusion susceptibility tests with 30-μg cephalothin disks and 30-μg cefamandole disks. The same interpretive zone standards can be applied to tests with either disk but the two drugs cannot be tested interchangeably.
