Line-tension model for plasticity as the Gamma-limit of a nonlinear dislocation energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we rigorously derive a line-tension model for plasticity as the Gamma-limit of a nonlinear mesoscopic dislocation energy, without resorting to the introduction of an ad hoc cut-off radius.

Void growth by dislocation adsorption

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters, 2020
We propose a dislocation adsorption-based mechanism for void growth in metals, wherein a void grows as dislocations from the bulk annihilate at its surface.

Decoupling Stable Cyclic Deformation From Defect Accumulation in Metals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Introducing amorphous nanoparticles into a metal matrix enables a cyclic deformation regime where strain hardening and defect accumulation are decoupled. These nanoparticles act as dislocation sinks and undergo reversible shear transformations, sustaining microstructural stability over millions of cycles.

The role of stacking-faultenergy at structure formation under pulse actions

open access: yesВесці Нацыянальнай акадэміі навук Беларусі: Серыя фізіка-тэхнічных навук, 2016
The problems of structure formation in metals and alloys under their exposure to pulses of various nature are discussed on the basis of crystal shear stability.

Dislocation Glide in Ice Hi

open access: yes, 1990
The field of geological materials is rapidly opening up to computer modelling and ice poses stimulating new problems. The normal pressure and 0°C form of ice is ice Ih in which the oxygen sublattice is wurtzite.

From Materials to Systems: Challenges and Solutions for Fast‐Charge/Discharge Na‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review systematically analyzes the key characteristics limiting the fast‐charge/discharge capability of Na‐ion batteries (SIBs) from a multi‐scale perspective encompassing electrode materials, the electrode‐electrolyte interface, and the system. Furthermore, it presents practical solution strategies for the fundamental issues arising at each scale,

Direct observation of misfit dislocation glide on surfaces

open access: yes, 2001
Using scanning tunneling microscopy we have observed thermally induced dislocation glide in monolayer Cu films on Ru(0001) at room temperature. The motion is governed by a Peierls barrier that depends on the detailed structure of the dislocations, in ...

Safety of Sodium‐Ion Batteries: Evaluation and Perspective from Component Materials to Cells, Modules, and Packs

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides a bottom‐up evaluation of sodium‐ion battery safety, linking material degradation mechanisms, cell engineering parameters, and module/pack assembly. It emphasizes that understanding intrinsic material stability and establishing coordinated engineering control across hierarchical levels are vital for preventing degradation coupling ...

Musculoskeletal Phenotypes of 19 Patients With X‐Linked HNRNPH2‐Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder: A Prospective Case Series

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Detailed clinical phenotypes have been previously reported for 33 individuals with X‐linked HNRNPH2‐related neurodevelopmental disorder. Of these, 75% self‐reported a musculoskeletal abnormality, including hip dysplasia, scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis, pes planus, arthritis, and missing spinous processes.
