Ion Irradiation Defects and Hardening in FeCrAl Alloy

open access: yesMetals, 2022
The self-ion irradiation experiments of FeCrAl and Y−FeCrAl alloys are carried out at 330 °C to 1–10 displacements per atom (dpa). The formation of dislocation loops in these alloys is investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nano ...

Toy nanoindentation model and incipient plasticity

open access: yes, 2009
A toy model of two dimensional nanoindentation in finite crystals is proposed. The crystal is described by periodized discrete elasticity whereas the indenter is a rigid strain field of triangular shape representing a hard knife-like indenter.

Movement of Dislocation Loops in Lithium Fluoride

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 1958
Very refined experiments on the movement of single dislocation loops in lithium fiuoride crystals, as revealed by etch pits, have been reported. In this note a somewhat more detailed interpretation is given for one particularly signiflcant experiment. (W.D.M.)

Annihilation and sources in continuum dislocation dynamics

open access: yesMaterials Theory, 2018
Continuum dislocation dynamics (CDD) aims at representing the evolution of systems of curved and connected dislocation lines in terms of density-like field variables. Here we discuss how the processes of dislocation multiplication and annihilation can be

Direct Observation of Cu Clusters and Dislocation Loops by Cs-Corrected STEM in Fe-0.6wt%Cu Alloy Irradiated in BR2

open access: yesMetals, 2022
The neutron irradiation of Fe-based fusion and fission reactor materials leads to an increase in ductile-to-brittle transition temperature with a decrease in upper shelf energy. It is well known that Cu content has a strong influence on the embrittlement

Phase Field Crystal Modeling as a Unified Atomistic Approach to Defect Dynamics

open access: yes, 2014
Material properties controlled by evolving defect structures, such as mechanical response, often involve processes spanning many length and time scales which cannot be modeled using a single approach.

Investigation of Interactions between Dislocation and Dislocation Loops in Fe33Ni33Cr Alloy by Molecular Dynamics Simulation

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
The FeNiCr alloys hold application potential in advanced reactors, however, irradiation hardening severely impacts their safety during service. To further enhance the irradiation hardening theory of the FeNiCr alloys, the interaction mechanism between 1/

Microstructure Characterization and Hardening Evaluation of Ferrite/Martensitic Steels Induced by He2+ Irradiation

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
Two ferrite/martensitic (F/M) steels with different Si concentrations (0 and 0.4 wt.%) were irradiated by 250 keV He2+ ions with different fluences of 2 × 1016 ions/cm2 and 1 × 1017 ions/cm2.

Chiral Lyotropic Liquid Crystals: TGB Phases and Helicoidal Structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The molecules in lyotropic membranes are typically aligned with the surface normal. When these molecules are chiral, there is a tendency for the molecular direction to twist.
