Classification of defects in ordered systems, based on the homotopy theory, conceived by Gérard Toulouse and Maurice Kléman has a very wide range of applications. We illustrate its modus operandi with three experimental examples.

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

The effect of different precipitates and nanoparticles on the distribution of radiation-induced dislocation loops in V-4Cr-4Ti alloy and V-4Cr-4Ti-1.8Y-0.4Ti3SiC2 alloy were studied. Both alloys were irradiated with 60 keV deuterium, and the distribution

Orientation-dependent deformation mechanisms of bcc niobium nanoparticles
Nanoparticles usually exhibit pronounced anisotropic properties, and a close insight into the atomic-scale deformation mechanisms is of great interest.

In this work, a magnetic core‐shell catalyst (HOF‐on‐Fe3O4/ZIF‐67) is successfully synthesized, consisting of a metal–organic framework (ZIF‐67) with magnetic Fe3O4 as the core and a porous hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) as the shell. The catalyst efficiently activated peroxymonosulfate, resulting in rapid and effective removal of water ...

Kinetics of Formation and Growth of Microdefects in Crystals
In the review, the main results of numerous direct observations of microdefects’ formation (oxygen precipitates and dislocation loops) in a silicon crystal during its growth and heat treatments are described.

High energy collision cascades in tungsten: dislocation loops structure and clustering scaling laws
Recent experiments on in-situ high-energy self-ion irradiation of tungsten (W) show the occurrence of unusual cascade damage effects resulting from single ion impacts, shedding light on the nature of radiation damage expected in the tungsten components ...

An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...
