DISLOCATION AND FRACTURE-DISLOCATION OF THE PELVIS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1948
1. Fifty dislocations and fracture-dislocations of the pelvis have been reviewed. 2. Complications were unusual. Two patients with rupture of the bladder died; two with rupture of the urethra survived. Of eight patients with retroperitoneal haemorrhage four died; the treatment advised is controlled blood transfusion maintaining a blood-pressure of ...

Influence of the Tool Rotational Speed on Physical and Chemical Properties of Dissimilar Friction-Stir-Welded AA5083/AA6060 Joints

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Aluminum alloys have been successfully used in the railroad and automotive industries because of their potential to significantly reduce component weights, and their good mechanical and anti-corrosion properties. Problems with joining aluminum alloys are

Modeling of the Effect of Secondary Orientation on the Micro Deformation Behavior of Ni-Based Single Crystal Superalloys

open access: yesMetals, 2022
In this paper, a supercell modeling of secondary orientation was established using 90 cubic mosaic units made up of γ’ phase embedded in γ matrix, in accordance with an actual structure of Ni-based single crystal superalloys (NSCS).

Influence of the Rake Angle on Nanocutting of Fe Single Crystals: A Molecular-Dynamics Study

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
Using molecular dynamics simulation, we study the cutting of an Fe single crystal using tools with various rake angles α . We focus on the (110)[001] cut system, since here, the crystal plasticity is governed by a simple mechanism for not too ...

DISLOCATION OF THE KNEE AND DISLOCATION OF THE FOOT [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1909
A case of anterior dislocation of the knee and a case of backward subastragaloid dislocation of the foot with fracture of the astragalus were both seen at the Baltimore City Hospital in the service of Dr. A. C. Harrison, and are reported because of the rarity of the conditions. Dislocations of the knee compose less than 2 per cent. of all dislocations.

Transition to Metallic and Superconducting States Induced by Thermal or Electrical Deoxidation of the Dislocation Network in the Surface Region of SrTiO3

open access: yesNanomaterials
The question as to why deoxidized SrTiO3−δ becomes metallic and superconducting at extremely low levels of oxygen vacancy concentration has been a mystery for many decades.

Quantized dislocations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2019
Abstract A dislocation, just like a phonon, is a type of atomic lattice displacement but subject to an extra topological constraint. However, unlike the phonon which has been quantized for decades, the dislocation has long remained classical.

Phyllotaxic diversity in Magnolia flowers

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2014
Impermanent initials and thus the shift of the axis in the stochastic meristems are postulated to be responsible for ontogenetic phyllotactic diversity in plants.

Plastic Instabilities Induced by the Portevin - Le Châtelier Effect and Fracture Character of Deformed Mg-Li Alloys Investigated Using the Acoustic Emission Method

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2016
The results of the investigation of both mechanical and acoustic emission (AE) behaviors of Mg4Li5Al and Mg4Li4Zn alloys subjected to compression and tensile tests at room temperature are compared with the test results obtained using the same alloys and ...
