DISLOCATION AND FRACTURE-DISLOCATION OF THE PELVIS [PDF]
1. Fifty dislocations and fracture-dislocations of the pelvis have been reviewed. 2. Complications were unusual. Two patients with rupture of the bladder died; two with rupture of the urethra survived. Of eight patients with retroperitoneal haemorrhage four died; the treatment advised is controlled blood transfusion maintaining a blood-pressure of ...

Influence of the Rake Angle on Nanocutting of Fe Single Crystals: A Molecular-Dynamics Study
Using molecular dynamics simulation, we study the cutting of an Fe single crystal using tools with various rake angles α . We focus on the (110)[001] cut system, since here, the crystal plasticity is governed by a simple mechanism for not too ...

DISLOCATION OF THE KNEE AND DISLOCATION OF THE FOOT [PDF]
A case of anterior dislocation of the knee and a case of backward subastragaloid dislocation of the foot with fracture of the astragalus were both seen at the Baltimore City Hospital in the service of Dr. A. C. Harrison, and are reported because of the rarity of the conditions. Dislocations of the knee compose less than 2 per cent. of all dislocations.

Abstract A dislocation, just like a phonon, is a type of atomic lattice displacement but subject to an extra topological constraint. However, unlike the phonon which has been quantized for decades, the dislocation has long remained classical.

Phyllotaxic diversity in Magnolia flowers
Impermanent initials and thus the shift of the axis in the stochastic meristems are postulated to be responsible for ontogenetic phyllotactic diversity in plants.
