Synthesis and Evaluation of Changes Induced by Solvent and Substituent in Electronic Absorption Spectra of New Azo Disperse Dyes Containig Barbiturate Ring

open access: yesJournal of Spectroscopy, 2013
Six azo disperse dyes were prepared by diazotizing 4-amino hippuric acid and coupled with barbituric acid and 2-thiobarbituric acid. Then, the products were reacted with aromatic aldehyde, sodium acetate, and acetic anhydride, and oxazolone derivatives ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Electrostatically gated membrane permeability in inorganic protocells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Although several strategies are now available to produce functional microcompartments analogous to primitive cell-like structures, little progress has been made in generating protocell constructs with self-controlled membrane permeability.

Treatment of Kynol fiber materials – Part 1: dyeing processes

open access: yesCommunications in Development and Assembling of Textile Products, 2022
Kynol fibers are excellent flame-retardant materials used for manifold applications. These fibers exhibit originally an orange coloration. Up to now, dyeing processes for Kynol fibers are less reported, and the functionalization of these fibers by ...

Preparation of Ultrafine Disperse Dyes Based on the Efficiency Balance of Grinding and Dyeing

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2022
As dispersive dyes are nonionic dyes, the particle size and particle-size distribution will significantly affect the dyeing performance. In this study, the grinding conditions, the granularity of disperse dye, and the dyeing performance were combined to ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Surface modification of polyester using chicken feather keratin hydrolysate to improve water absorbency and dye uptake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
PET fiber has an intrinsic low hydrophilic character and an inactive surface which make it uncomfortable for wearing purpose. Moreover, it is difficult to colour polyester fabric other than disperse dyes.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Utilization of Cuscuta japonica powder as a novel affordable adsorbent for removing disperse dyes from water

open access: yesDiscover Chemistry
Textile industrial activities have become major contributors of water pollution through the release of dyes into water systems. Disperse red 13 and disperse orange 3 dyes are still heavily used in the industry despite having been reported to be ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.
