LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Photon lifetime in a cavity containing a slow-light medium

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate experimentally the lifetime of the photons in a cavity containing a medium exhibiting strong positive dispersion. This intracavity positive dispersion is provided by a metastable helium gas at room temperature in the electromagnetically ...

Dispersion compensation using high-positive dispersive optical fibers

open access: yesChinese Optics Letters, 2017
The common and traditional method for dispersion compensation in optical domain is concatenating the transmit optical fiber by a compensating optical fiber having high-negative dispersion coefficient. In this paper, we take an opposite direction and show how an optical fiber with high-positive dispersion coefficient can also be used for dispersion ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Compensating group delay distortion of signals based on engineered material dispersion

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
Dispersion, which originates from the total frequency responses of materials, devices and transmission lines, makes envelope distortion of signals inevitable in transmission systems.

Proper Motions and Internal Dynamics in the Core of the Globular Cluster M71

open access: yes, 2012
We have used Gemini North together with the NIRI-ALTAIR adaptive optics imager in the H and K bands to explore the core of the Galactic globular cluster M71 (NGC 6838). We obtained proper motions for 217 stars and have resolved its internal proper motion

Dispersive perturbations of optical solitons

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2001
The precise manner in which radiation disperses away from a soliton in an optical fiber is a topic attracting current attention. The purpose of this paper is to emphasize that there exists a well-developed formalism derived from inverse scattering theory, which has ready application to this problem for the case when the radiation in question forms part

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Very small beam-size measurement by a reflective synchrotron radiation interferometer

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2006
A synchrotron radiation (SR) interferometer with Herschelian reflective optics has been developed for the measurement of beams of several μm in size. In a conventional refractive SR interferometer, the dispersion effect of the objective lens limits the ...

Broadband Achromatic Metasurface-Refractive Optics.

open access: yesNano letters (Print), 2018
Existing methods of correcting for chromatic aberrations in optical systems are limited to two approaches: varying the material dispersion in refractive lenses or incorporating grating dispersion via diffractive optical elements.
