Asymptotic behavior of Structures made of Plates

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this work is to study the asymptotic behavior of a structure made of plates of thickness $2\delta$ when $\delta\to 0$. This study is carried on within the frame of linear elasticity by using the unfolding method.

Stochastic framework for evaluating the effect of displaced antenna elements on DOA estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We establish a statistical framework for investigating the influence of correlated random displacements of antenna elements in a uniform circular antenna array (UCA) on the distribution of direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimates. More specifically, we apply

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Comparison of Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing and Digital Image Correlation Measurement Techniques for Evaluation of Flexural Behavior of CFRP-Prestressed Concrete Beams

open access: yesSensors
The paper presents two innovative measurement methods for assessing the flexural performance of precast concrete beams that are prestressed with Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) bars.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Bridging Attitudes and Evidence: Climate Change Perspectives in Italy

open access: yesChallenges
The most visible and well-known consequence of natural and environmental disasters is displacement. The paper analyzes environmentally induced displacement and attitudes towards climate change in Italy between 2013 and 2023.

Approaching of the solution of a static compressible medium to the solution of an incompressible medium

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Математика сериясы, 2019
A well - known analogy of the flow of viscous incompressible fluid and incompressible elastic medium. According to this analogy, the solution of the equations of the elasticity theory with the Poisson’s ratio v = 0, 5 and for any fixed shear modulus µ ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Testing Multi-Frequency Low-Cost GNSS Receivers for Geodetic Monitoring Purposes

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology is widely used for geodetic monitoring purposes. However, in cases where a higher risk of receiver damage is expected, geodetic GNSS receivers may be considered too expensive to be used.
