The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Asymptotic behavior of Structures made of Plates
The aim of this work is to study the asymptotic behavior of a structure made of plates of thickness $2\delta$ when $\delta\to 0$. This study is carried on within the frame of linear elasticity by using the unfolding method.

Understanding the complexity of the L\'evy-walk nature of human mobility with a multi-scale cost/benefit model [PDF]
Probability distributions of human displacements has been fit with exponentially truncated L\'evy flights or fat tailed Pareto inverse power law probability distributions.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Corrugated Shell Displacements During the Passage of a Vehicle Along a Soil-Steel Structure
Corrugated steel plates are highly rigid and as the constructions can be immersed in soil, they can be used as soil-steel structures. With an increase of cover depth, the effectiveness of operating loads decreases.

Force, relative-displacement, and work networks in granular materials subjected to quasistatic deformation [PDF]
To describe the heterogeneous nature of stress transmission in granular materials, the concept of the “strong” network consisting of contacts with large normal forces has been proposed by Radjaï et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 61 (1998)].

Displaced memories and memories of displacement
This two-day workshop seeks to provide a comparative, collaborative, and interdisciplinary platform to discuss many cases of how the silenced heritage of the displaced populations in Europe and beyond is being negotiated in the present day.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
