Effects of Age on Meperidine Disposition
Survey of Anesthesiology, 1985Elderly patients appear to be more sensitive to meperidine than younger ones; however, the contributions of altered dynamic and kinetic factors are not clear. Accordingly, seven healthy normal men aged 60 to 79 yr were simultaneously given 25 mg meperidine HCl intravenously and the same dose of deuterium-labeled drug either orally or intramuscularly ...

Effect of Rifampin on Theophylline Disposition
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, 1984The concentrations of theophylline from single 400-mg oral doses were evaluated both before and after 7 days of oral rifampin administration (600 mg/day) in six healthy, nonsmoking adults. The mean oral clearance of theophylline was significantly increased from 54.9 +/- 21.2 to 68.9 +/- 26.5 ml/h/kg.

Effect of cimetidine on verapamil disposition
Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1985The effects of multiple doses of cimetidine on single-dose verapamil kinetics were studied in nine healthy men. Baseline hepatic blood flow was estimated by indocyanine green elimination on day 1. On day 2, the subjects received verapamil, 10 mg iv, after which the plasma concentration-time profile was determined. After a 2-day washout, cimetidine, 300

Effect of Ranitidine on Bupivacaine Disposition
Anesthesia & Analgesia, 1991This study was undertaken to determine the effect, if any, of ranitidine on bupivacaine disposition in 28 women undergoing cesarean section. Before epidural anesthesia, ranitidine (50 mg IM) or sodium citrate (30 mL orally) was administered to groups of 14 parturients each.

Mexiletine effects on theophylline disposition
Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1991The effect of mexiletine administration on steady-state plasma theophylline concentrations was studied in eight normal healthy men in a prospective open label nonrandomized two-way crossover trial. Repeated doses of 300 mg of sustained-release theophylline were given every 12 hours for 9 days.

Effect of smoking on theophylline disposition
Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1976The pharmacokinetics of theophylline were examined in a group of nonsmokers and in heavy smokers (1 to 2 packs/day) before and 3 to 4 mo after cessation of cigarette smoking. The half‐life of theophylline in smokers averaged 4.3 (SD = 1.4) hr, significantly shorter than the mean value in nonsmokers (7.0, SD = 1.7 hr).

Effect of fluconazole on the disposition of phenytoin
Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1991In a randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel study, phenytoin was given in the presence and absence of fluconazole. Twenty healthy male subjects received phenytoin, 200 mg orally, on study days 1 to 3 and 18 to 20 and 250 mg intravenously on study days 4 and 21.

Effect of alcohol on propylthiouracil disposition
Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1983We examined the effect of ethanol on propylthiouracil (PTU) disposition in normal subjects and a rabbit. The drug is metabolized by conjugation. In six normal subjects 19.2 gm oral ethanol, taken either with or two hr after 300 mg PTU, did not change maximum concentration, time to maximum concentration, or total or free AUC of PTU.

Effect of ethanol on the disposition of paraquat
Toxicology Letters, 1991Rabbits that received paraquat (200 mg/kg) and ethanol (1.0-3.8 g/kg) by gavage resulted in shorter median survival times and higher mortality rates than those dosed with paraquat alone. Plasma paraquat levels in rabbits dosed with ethanol before, after and concurrently with ingestion of paraquat were significantly higher when compared with animals ...
