«No one else can make you change». Formazione, giovinezza, musica, a partire dal Sessantotto

open access: yesStudi sulla Formazione, 2019
Beyond the number of stereotypes concerning 1968, in that year the intersection between youth and music achieved a full-fledged Bildungsroman that recovered the poetry of disquiet as powerful tool for relief and self-affirmation, for modelling/transfer ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Fragmentación y Edición en el Libro del Desasosiego

open access: yesMatLit, 2013
This article argues that the various editions of the Book of Disquiet represent some defacement. The editor makes decisions that the writer did not take on textual variables and selection of fragments. In modernity the "book" emerges as a utopian horizon.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

My Life Flashed Before My Eyes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Hermeneutics, 2018
The everyday experience of time can be disrupted by the events in our lives, and disquiet notions of predictability about the passage of time. In this work, I describe an alternate experience of time passing that occurred in the context of a car accident.
