Identifying Risks and Mitigating Disruptions in the Automotive Supply Chain [PDF]

open access: yesInterfaces, 2015
Firms are exposed to a variety of low-probability, high-impact risks that can disrupt their operations and supply chains. These risks are difficult to predict and quantify; therefore, they are difficult to manage. As a result, managers may suboptimally deploy countermeasures, leaving their firms exposed to some risks, while wasting resources to ...

Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Effects on characteristics of plasma disruption mitigation using shattered pellet injection with different shatter tubes on EAST

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Plasma disruptions present considerable risks to tokamak devices, necessitating the implementation of advanced mitigation techniques such as shattered pellet injection (SPI). This study examines the influence of various shatter tube designs on disruption

Mitigation of the Environmental Disruption due to the Disaster

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Engineering Geology, 2007

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Micro-particle injection experiments in ADITYA-U tokamak using an inductively driven pellet injector

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
A first-of-its-kind, inductively driven micro-particle (Pellet) accelerator and injector have been developed and operated successfully in ADITYA-U circular plasma operations, which may ably address the critical need for a suitable disruption control ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Resilient Supply Chain Optimization Considering Alternative Supplier Selection and Temporary Distribution Center Location

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
The global supply chain is facing huge uncertainties due to potential emergencies, and the disruption of any link may threaten the security of the supply chain. This paper considers a disruption scenario in which supply disruption and distribution center

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
