Disseminated Histoplasmosis Followed by Disseminated Coccidioidomycosis

Chest, 1977
A case of disseminated histoplasmosis followed later by disseminated coccidioidomycosis is described. The clinical illness and immunologic studies suggest subtle defects that may have existed antecedent to infection and, thus, provided an opportunity for widespread dissemination by these normally nonopportunistic organisms.

DISSEMINATED HISTOPLASMOSIS

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Medicine, 1986
Abstract The first reported case of disseminated histoplasmosis in Western Australia is described. Disseminated protothecosis

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2009
Here is presented, a rare case of disseminated protothecosis in a 10-year-old boy with combined immunodeficiency, hitherto unreported from India. Even though it is difficult to diagnose clinically, observation of the sporangiospores within the sporangium in culture gives the accurate laboratory identification of Prototheca spp. In this patient, failure

Disseminated Coccidioidomycosis

The Journal of Dermatology, 1990
AbstractWe report a case of disseminated coccidioidomycosis in a 39‐year‐old Japanese male whose illness developed after returning from a trip to an endemic area. He showed positive coccidioidin skin reaction throughout the entire course of his illness. The primary lesion in the lung subsequently spread to the bone.

Disseminated blastomycosis

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 2003
A 26-year-old veiled Saudi-Arabian woman presented with hemoptysis, and multiple nodules and abscesses. A skin biopsy specimen revealed yeast forms consistent with Blastomyces dermatitidis. Fungal cultures from bronchoscopy and skin specimens also grew B dermatitidis. She was treated with oral itraconazole (200 mg twice a day).
