UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

443. The fibroblast - smooth muscle cell relationship is altered in uterine leiomyoma

open access: yes, 2008
Uterine leiomyoma (fibroids) are benign neoplasms of the myometrium. Their aetiology is still poorly understood, but they are known to be sex steroid hormone dependant.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Acetylcholine receptor-aggregating activity of agrin isoforms and mapping of the active site. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Agrin is a basal lamina protein that induces aggregation of acetylcholine receptors (AChRs) and other molecules at the developing neuromuscular junction.

Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Stromelysin expression regulates collagenase activation in human fibroblasts. Dissociable control of two metalloproteinases by interferon-gamma.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1991
The expression of collagenolytic activity by cells represents the rate-limiting step in the turnover of collagen during remodeling. The collagenase gene is transcriptionally activated in normal dermal or rheumatoid synovial fibroblasts by interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta), resulting in secretion of trypsin-activatable procollagenase measuring in the range

Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor 2 Homodimerization Rapidly Reduces Transcription of the Pluripotency Gene Nanog without Dissociation of Activating Transcription Factors [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2012
Nanog or Gata6-positive cells co-exist and are convertible within the inner cell mass of murine blastocysts and embryonic stem (ES) cells. Previous studies demonstrate fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) triggers Nanog gene down-regulation and differentiation to primitive endoderm (PE); however, the underlying mechanisms responsible for ...

The influence of non-neuronal cells on catecholamine and acetylcholine synthesis and accumulation in cultures of dissociated sympathetic neurons [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
The effects of several non-neuronal cell types on neurotransmitter synthesis in cultures of dissociated sympathetic neurons from the new-born rat were studied.

Cellular Replication and Specialized Function of Fibroblasts

open access: yes, 1972
Cellular proliferation and expression of specialized function are frequently dissociated from one another. Collagen is synthesized and forms typical fibrils in cultures of many different fibroblast-like cells.

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,
