Preparation, Characterization and Study of the Dissociation of Naproxen from Its Chitosan Salt

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Salts of naproxen (NAP) with chitosan (CTS) and reticulated chitosan (CEP) were prepared under optimized conditions to maximize the yield of reaction. The objective was to evaluate the dissociation in water, which can guide studies of release of the drug

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A laser-driven target of high-density nuclear polarized hydrogen gas

open access: yes, 2006
We report the best figure-of-merit achieved for an internal nuclear polarized hydrogen gas target and a Monte Carlo simulation of spin-exchange optical pumping.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Carrier-envelope-phase-dependent dissociation of hydrogen

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We studied the dependence of dissociative ionization in H _2 on carrier-envelope phase (CEP) of few-cycle (6 fs) near-infrared laser pulses. For low-energy channels, we present the first experimental observation of the CEP dependence of combined ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A note on the metallization of compressed liquid hydrogen

open access: yes, 2009
We examine the molecular-atomic transition in liquid hydrogen as it relates to metallization. Pair potentials are obtained from first principles molecular dynamics and compared with potentials derived from quadratic response.

Ultrasensitivity in phosphorylation-dephosphorylation cycles with little substrate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Cellular decision-making is driven by dynamic behaviours, such as the preparations for sunrise enabled by circadian rhythms and the choice of cell fates enabled by positive feedback.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
