THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF THE DISSOLUTION OF FATTY ACID SALTS IN WATER*
Journal of Dispersion Science and Technology, 1998The enthalpy, entropy and heat capacity change of the dissolution of calcium and barium laurates, myristates and palmitates were determined by reaction calorimetry and by solubility at different temperatures. Heat capacity change, due to water restructuring or iceberg formation, was found to increase with the chain length.

Kinetic and thermodynamic study of the thorium phosphate–diphosphate dissolution
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2000The dissolution of the thorium phosphate-diphosphate (TPD), which was proposed for the actinides immobilization, was systematically studied as a function of several parameters such as surface, leaching flow, temperature acidity or basicity of the leachate and phosphate concentration.

Effect of Metal Nanoparticle Aggregate Structure on the Thermodynamics of Oxidative Dissolution
Langmuir, 2021Here, we compare the electrochemical oxidation potential of 15 nm diameter citrate-stabilized Au NPs aggregated by acid (low pH) to those aggregated by tetrakis(hydroxymethyl) phosphonium chloride (THPC). For acid-induced aggregation, the solution changes to a blue-violet color, the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) band of Au NPs at 520 nm ...

Kinetic and Thermodynamic Studies of Silica Nanoparticle Dissolution
Chemistry of Materials, 2007Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and microcalorimetry were used to study the dissolution of silica nanoparticles that serve as precursors in the synthesis of the pure-silica zeolite, silicalite-1. Temporal changes in nanoparticle size were monitored by SAXS to obtain radial dissolution rates on the order of 1 × 10-2 nm/min, 10 times greater than ...

Dissolution enthalpies and the thermodynamic properties of sodium metaborates
Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2020Abstract The thermodynamic properties including enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs free energy are important parameters, which can provide a theoretical basis for utilizing salt lake resources. In addition, the dissolution equilibrium constant (K), activity coefficient (γ) and osmotic coefficient (Φ) of inorganic salt solution, especially for sodium borate,

Thermodynamics of ferrocene dissolution in water-methanol solutions
Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2008The polythermal solubility of ferrocene in water-methanol solutions in a wide range of their compositions was studied. Ferrocene solubility grows as temperature and methanol content increase. Thermodynamic functions of ferrocene transfer from water into water-methanol solutions were calculated.

Thermodynamics of the dissolution of crystalline L-methionine in water
Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2016The enthalpies of dissolution of crystalline L-methionine in water and aqueous solutions of potasium hydroxide at 298.15 K are measured by means of direct calorimetry. The standard enthalpies of formation are calculated for L-methionine and products of its dissociation in aqueous solution.

Thermodynamics insights of lignin dissolution in deep eutectic solvents
International Journal of Biological MacromoleculesTo develop a green solvent for lignin dissolution, the most fundamental aspects of its mechanism must be elucidated. Understanding the thermodynamic behaviors is of significant importance for designing novel deep eutectic solvents (DESs) to dissolve lignin.

Dissolution Thermodynamics of 1,2,3-Triazole Nitrate in Water
Journal of Solution Chemistry, 2011The enthalpies of dissolution of 1,2,3-triazole nitrate in water were measured using a RD496-2000 Calvet microcalorimeter at four different temperatures under atmospheric pressure. Differential enthalpies (Δdif H) and molar enthalpies (Δdiss H) of dissolution were determined.
