Wheat-barley hybridization – the last forty years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Several useful alien gene transfers have been reported from related species into wheat (Triticum aestivum), but very few publications have dealt with the development of wheat/barley (Hordeum vulgare) introgression lines. An overview is given here of

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Genetic and morphology analysis among the pentaploid F1 hybrid fishes (Schizothorax wangchiachii ♀ × Percocypris pingi ♂) and their parents

open access: yesAnimal, 2019
Triploid and pentaploid breeding is of great importance in agricultural production, but it is not always easy to obtain double ploidy parents. However, in fishes, chromosome ploidy is diversiform, which may provide natural parental resources for triploid

Molecular Characterization of the Dwarf53 Gene Homolog in Dasypyrum Villosum

open access: yesPlants, 2020
The Dwarf53 (D53) gene, first studied in rice, encodes a protein that acts as a repressor of the physiological response of plants to strigolactones—substances that regulate the activity of axillary buds, stem growth, branching of roots and other ...

Specific metaphase and interphase detection of the breakpoint region in 8q24 of burkitt lymphoma cells by triple-color fluorescence in situ hybridization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Triple fluorescence in situ hybridization with a plasmid DNA library from sorted human chromosomes 8 in combination with bacteriophage clones flanking the breakpoint in 8q24 of the Burkitt lymphoma cell line Jl was used for the specific delineation of ...

Study of Heterosis in Hybridization of Geographically Distant Gossypium Varieties

open access: yesBulletin of Science and Practice, 2022
In the study, hybridization was carried out between the local Gossypium variety and geographically distant Gossypium varieties to obtain a selection starting material. To determine the effect of heterosis, hybrids obtained from the crossing of Ganja-110 Gossypium variety with geographically distant cotton varieties were studied, F1 generation hybrids ...

Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Comparative analysis of nutrients in muscle and ovary between an improved fish and its parents

open access: yesReproduction and Breeding
In previous studies, an allodiploid lineage (WR-F1-F5) was established by the distant hybridization of white crucian carp (Carassius cuvieri, WCC, ♀) and red crucian carp (Carassius auratus red var., RCC, ♂), an allodiploid fish (WR-II) was produced by ...

Intra- and Interspecies Analyses of the Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) Gene Family Reveal Independent Evolution in Primates and Rodents [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Various rodent and primate DNAs exhibit a stronger intra- than interspecies cross-hybridization with probes derived from the N-terminal domain exons of human and rat carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)-like genes.
