Nonlinear distortion in current-feedback amplifiers

Microelectronics Journal, 1985
A systematic method to characterize the nonlinear distortion in current-feedback amplifiers is described in this paper. This technique is easy to apply and allows us to determine analytical expressions for 2nd and 5th coefficients of harmonic distortion for single stage amplifiers. It is also applicable to differential pairs.

Measurement of Voltage, Current and Power at Distorted Waveforms

IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine, 2021
Electric power systems have been designed to operate under sinusoidal voltage and current conditions at power frequencies, mainly 50 Hz and 60 Hz, and by far most electrical energy transmission occurs at 50 Hz and 60 Hz. Electric utilities are responsible for providing a sinusoidal voltage to their residential, commercial and industrial customers.

Harmonic distortion in switched-current memory cell

CCECE '97. Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Engineering Innovation: Voyage of Discovery. Conference Proceedings, 2002
The lower and upper bounds on the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of a switched-current (SI) memory cell are given. The upper bound is an improvement on previously published results. The simulation results show that the THD measure is always within the bounds given by the explicit formula.

Multifrequency Current Control With Distortion-Free Saturation

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2016
Preventing voltage waveform distortion in multifrequency current control during saturated operation is a difficult problem, which so far has been only partially solved. In this paper, a scheme based on the principle of realizable references is proposed.

Current distortions compensation method for frequency converters

2012 IEEE 18th International Symposium for Design and Technology in Electronic Packaging (SIITME), 2012
This paper present a study of the effects of frequency converters to the power grid and a possible solution for current distortions compensation. Experimental measurements made, at different points of the grid, with the device Fluke 434 to a converter which supplies a 110 kW asynchronous motor, reveal the distortions of current.

Influence of harmonic distortion in current transformer

2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP), 2016
This study aims to evaluate the performance (accuracy assessment) of current transformers in the presence of harmonic distortion. Using the software ATP-Alternative Transients Program, an equivalent CT circuit model was validated and the simulation results were compared with tests performed in prototypes.

Lightning return-stroke model incorporating current distortion

IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2002
A lightning return-stroke model of transmission-line (TL) type, which incorporates both the attenuation and distortion of the waveform of the propagating current, is proposed. With the proposed model, the influence of the distortion of the propagating current on associated electromagnetic field waveforms is investigated and found to be small.

Current controller with low total harmonic distortion

2005 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2005
A new digital current controller with active-null state modulation for voltage source inverter systems (VSI) is presented. The major advantages of the proposed current controller system are: minimisation of the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the output current waveform and maximisation of the time of application of the voltage ...

Intermodulation distortion in current-commutating CMOS mixers

IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 2000
The nonlinearity behavior of CMOS current-switching mixers is investigated. By treating the mixer as a periodically-time-varying weakly nonlinear circuit, we study the distortion-causing mechanisms and we predict the mixer distortion performance. Normalized graphs are provided from which the designer can readily estimate the mixer nonlinearity for ...

Gradient Distortion Correction for Low Frequency Current Density Imaging

2006 International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2006
Current density imaging (CDI) is a technique that uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to measure the distribution of externally applied electric current inside tissues. However, GDI processing is rendered inaccurate by the distortion caused by the nonlinearity of MRI gradient fields. The distortion interferes with the proper registration and the curl
