Handling inconsistency in distributed data mining with paraconsistent logic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper addresses the problem of inconsistent rule subsets in distributed data mining. In this scenario, N rule subsets are independently discovered from N different data subsets. This can result in inconsistent rules – i.e.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Query acceleration in distributed database systems

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Computación, 2001
The advent of telecommunication era and the constant development of hardware and network structures have encouraged the decentralization of data while increasing the needs to access information from different sites.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Rigorous Design of Distributed Transactions

open access: yes
Database replication is traditionally envisaged as a way of increasing fault-tolerance and availability. It is advantageous to replicate the data when transaction workload is predominantly read-only.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

PETRI NET MODELLING OF CONCURRENCY CONTROL IN DISTRIBUTED DATABASE SYSTEM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The life time of transaction is divided into two stages: executing stage and committing stage. At the executing stage, transaction access data through a concurrency control, while at the committing stage, a commit protocol is executed to ensure failure ...
