The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A protection scheme based on impedance for LV and MV lines in microgrids with high-impedance fault detection capability

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
Microgrid properties including bidirectional power flow in feeders, fault level decrease in the islanded mode, and intermittent nature of distributed generators (DGs) result in the malfunctioning of microgrid conventional protection schemes.

Generalized Hypergeometric Distributions

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1956
Summary An examination is made of the conditions under which the hypergeometric series provides discrete frequency distributions; eight sets of conditions exist. Urn model representations, other derivations and special forms are discussed. The limiting forms are positive and negative binomials and the Poisson distribution.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A Conservation Voltage Reduction Scheme for a Distribution Systems with Intermittent Distributed Generators

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
In this paper, a conservation voltage reduction (CVR) scheme is proposed for a distribution system with intermittent distributed generators (DGs), such as photovoltaics and wind turbines.

DG Allocation in Distribution Networks with Considering of Voltage Stability Improvement and Loss Reduction

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2020
The improvement of the line Load-ability (LL) for voltage stability establishes the main criterion for distribution networks. The Distributed Generation (DG) resources play an important role in the supply of active and reactive power loads, bus voltage ...

A Generalization of the Beta-Distribution

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1959
A class of distributions is defined and studied which includes as particular cases (cf. Section 13) the ordinary $\beta$-distribution, the (univariate) triangular distribution, the uniform distribution over any nondegenerate simplex, and a continuous range of other distributions over such a simplex, called basic $\beta$-distributions (Section 6) and ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Comparison of Sine-Cosine and Bat Algorithm for Distributed Generation Placement

open access: yesJurnal Nasional Teknik Elektro dan Teknologi Informasi
The enhancement of electricity distribution is a crucial factor in supporting sustainable development and reducing energy access inequality. To ensure the reliability and stability of energy systems, the integration of distributed generation (DG) has a ...
