Parameter estimation of large flexible aerospace structures with application to the control of the Maypole Deployable Reflector [PDF]

open access: yes
Systems such as the Maypole deployable reflector have a distributed parameter nature. The flexible column and hoop structure and the circular antenna of 30-100 meter diameter which it supports are described by partial, rather than ordinary, differential ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

RAFDA: A Policy-Aware Middleware Supporting the Flexible Separation of Application Logic from Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Middleware technologies often limit the way in which object classes may be used in distributed applications due to the fixed distribution policies that they impose.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Adaptive control strategies for a class of nonlinear propagation bioprocesses [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2008
This paper presents the control problem of a class of propagation bioprocesses that are carried out in fixed bed reactors. Since the dynamics of these processes are described by partial differential equations, in order to obtain useful models for control

Optimum Design in Distributed Parameter Systems

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
Abstract A new numerical method for the computation of sensitivity of design performance functional with respect to boundary variations is used to study the optimum design problems in general distributed parameter systems. The method is based on a modification of schemes in functional derivative sensitivity analysis and includes a specialization of ...

Parameter estimation problems for distributed systems using a multigrid method [PDF]

open access: yes
The problem of estimating spatially varying coefficients of partial differential equations is considered from observation of the solution and of the right hand side of the equation.

A port-Hamiltonian approach to modeling and interconnections of canal systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We show how the port-Hamiltonian formulation of distributed parameter systems, which incorporates energy flow through the boundary of the spatial domain of the system, can be used to model networks of canals and study interconnections of such systems. We

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.
