Solvent Co‐Intercalation Enabled Ca Storage in MoS2 for Ca‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Regulating electrolyte solvation levels enables otherwise non‐intercalatable Ca2+ ions to reversibly co‐intercalate into molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) as ether‐solvated species. The intercalation reversibility is strongly governed by solvent chain length, as demonstrated using diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (G2) and tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (

Diisopropylamine as a single catalyst in the synthesis of aryl disulfides

open access: yesGreen Processing and Synthesis, 2018
The search for less time-consuming and inexpensive methods for the synthesis of disulfides continues to be a hot subject of research. Herein, we report that diisopropylamine (iPr2NH) can act as a very effective catalyst for this process.

Optimization of tris(2-carboxyethyl) phosphine reduction conditions for fast analysis of total biothiols in mouse serum samples

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
In this study, we investigated suitable conditions for the reduction of disulfides in mouse serum samples by tris(2-carboxyethyl) phosphine (TCEP) for fast analysis of total biothiols.

Ultrasensitive Anti‐Stokes Luminescence Thermometry in Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Monolayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a highly sensitive nanothermometer using anti‐Stokes photoluminescence, also known as photoluminescence upconversion (UPL), in monolayer tungsten disulfide. A strong resonantly enhanced UPL is observed, confirming the central role of optical phonons in the PL upconversion mechanism.

Synthesis of 3-(Arylthio)propionic Acids from Nonactivated Aryl Iodides and their Use as Odorless Aryl Mercaptan Surrogates

open access: yesSynOpen, 2018
The reaction of aryl iodides, 3-mercaptopropionic acid, and Cu2O in refluxing pyridine resulted in the formation of 3-(arylthio)propionic acids in good to excellent yield.

Facile Preparation of Carbon Membranes Derived from a Fluorenyl‐Containing Polyimine for Selective Hydrogen Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fluorenyl‐containing polyimine is introduced as a simple, scalable precursor for high‐performance carbon membranes. The precursor's intrinsic kinked structure enables defect‐free membrane formation with enhanced hydrogen permeance and excellent ideal selectivities for key industrial gas pairs (H2/N2, H2/CH4, and H2/CO2), offering a practical route ...

Flexible aromatic disulfide monomers for high-performance self-healable linear and cross-linked poly(urethane-urea) coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Implementation of the self-healing concept in coatings is challenging because they have to combine mechanical strength and chain mobility. This challenge is addressed in this work by studying the effect of the polymer microstructure on the mechanical ...

Chamber‐Specific Decellularized Extracellular Matrices Differentially Modulate Cardiomyocyte Subtypes to Drive Engineered Heart Tissue Development and Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Chamber‐specific decellularized extracellular matrices (ECMs) were developed, preserving native proteomic profiles of ventricular and atrial myocardium. These innate biochemical cues differentially modulate cardiomyocyte subtypes to drive engineered heart tissue development and function, highlighting the importance of incorporating regional ECM cues in

Rapid Transformation of Alkyl Halides into Symmetrical Disulfides Using Sodium Sulfide and Carbon Disulfide

open access: yesSynOpen, 2017
An efficient one-pot reaction has been developed for the preparation of symmetrical disulfide derivatives directly from alkyl halides by reaction with a combination of sodium sulfide and carbon disulfide without requirement for any catalyst.
