Low Latency Global Carbon Budget Reveals Late 2024 Carbon Losses and Contrasting Early 2025 Land Sink Recovery Signals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Low latency carbon budget estimates for July 2024–June 2025 combine atmospheric CO2 growth rates, fossil emissions, ocean uptake, DGVM land fluxes, and OCO‐2 inversions. The budget shows that late‐2024 land carbon losses dominate the annual anomaly, while early‐2025 recovery differs between bottom‐up models and top‐down inversions, especially in ...

Association between time of awakening and diurnal cortisol secretory activity

open access: yes, 2001
A 12-hour diurnal profile of salivary free cortisol was measured in healthy adults (n=40) on two consecutive days. Samples were collected at timed intervals synchronised to awakening.

Long‐Lifespan Polyorganosiloxane‐Based Silicone Evaporator for High‐Efficiency Seawater Desalination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conventional evaporators suffer from salt crystallization and degradation. We design a white polyorganosiloxane evaporator with a reflector, achieving 4.344 kg m−2 h−1 at 1 sun in 3.5 wt.% NaCl. It shows over 53‑day cycling stability and 197‑day seawater resistance.

Daily Rhythms in Mosquitoes and Their Consequences for Malaria Transmission

open access: yesInsects, 2016
The 24-h day involves cycles in environmental factors that impact organismal fitness. This is thought to select for organisms to regulate their temporal biology accordingly, through circadian and diel rhythms.

The Impact of Varying Pasture Levels on the Metabolomic Profile of Bovine Ruminal Fluid

open access: yesMetabolites
A pasture or concentrate-based dietary regime impacts a variety of factors including both ruminal health and function, and consequently milk production and quality. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of feeding differing pasture levels

Daily rhythms of clock gene expression, glycaemia and digestive physiology in diurnal/nocturnal European seabass

open access: yes, 2012
Seabass is a fish species with dual (diurnal/nocturnal) feeding behavior, although little is known about changes in its molecular clock, physiology and metabolism linked to this dual behavior.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth Following Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery: Current Evidence and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) has recently gained increasing attention as a potential cause of postoperative gastrointestinal symptoms following gastrointestinal cancer surgery. Surgical procedures can disrupt normal gastrointestinal physiology through anatomical reconstruction, impaired motility, reduced gastric acid secretion,
