Management of dry calcareous grasslands drives pollinator communities through availability of key forage plants

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 6, June 2026.
Pollinator conservation in calcareous grasslands should prioritize enhancing local patch quality while promoting landscape heterogeneity, including woody SNH. To improve forage quality, our analytical approach supports targeted grassland management in selecting key forage plants, promoting complementary and diverse floral assemblages that support ...

Rewilding beyond the wilderness: Beavers can restore stream biodiversity from urban to agricultural to natural landscapes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 6, June 2026.
Our findings show that beaver‐engineering significantly enhances local biodiversity across aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, even at sites with high land‐use intensity. Hence, beavers can effectively restore stream biodiversity across a range of urban to agricultural to natural ecosystems.

Integrated assessment of grassland restoration methods across Germany: Direct harvesting and regional seed mixtures are most successful for vegetation outcomes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
Direct harvesting and regional seed mixtures are the most effective methods to restore biodiverse and characteristic grassland plant communities. They outperform other methods regardless of land‐use history and restoration age. This has positive implications for restoration of temperate grasslands in Central Europe, since land‐use history is not a ...

Simulating drying and human impacts on river networks to evaluate biological quality indices performance through the lens of metacommunity theory

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
This work constitutes a first step towards developing simulation‐based assessments that incorporate catchment drying patterns to support biomonitoring of drying river networks. Our approach can inform stakeholders when current methods are likely to fail and contribute to decision‐making on whether adapting current methods is possible or developing new ...

Structural complexity and prey availability shape spider communities under retention forestry

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
Our findings suggest that retention forestry practices, which maintain structural complexity through spatial and vertical heterogeneity, integrate deadwood and support diverse plant communities, may support spider richness and shape dominant ecological strategies while influencing predator populations through prey availability.

Escolarización obligatoria y adolescencia

open access: yesEducar, 1998
L’autor analitza el binomi adolescència i ESO com quelcom inseparable que s’interrelaciona i que pot crear situacions conflictives. A partir del canvi del paper educatiu de l’escola, de transmissora de cultura a agent socialitzador i estimulador dels ...
