Ontology of sentential moods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper ontological implications of the Barcan formula and its converse will be discussed at the conceptual and technical level. The thesis that will be defended is that sentential moods are not ontologically neutral since the rejection of ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Semilocal convergence conditions for the secant method, using recurrent functions

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2011
Using our new concept of recurrent functions, we present new sufficient convergence conditions for the secant method to a locally unique solution of a nonlinear equation in a Banach space.

Polynomials, Divided Differences, and Codes

open access: yesProceedings of Innovations in Theoretical Computer Science Conference (ITCS)
Multivariate multiplicity codes (Kopparty, Saraf, and Yekhanin, J. ACM 2014) are linear codes where the codewords are described by evaluations of multivariate polynomials (with a degree bound) and their derivatives up to a fixed order, on a suitably chosen affine point set.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Comparison of multi-stage air treatment process divided by the same temperature and enthalpy difference [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The multi-stage air treatment system has been proposed recently, and lower grade chilled/hot water could be used and energy efficiency could be improved.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Support Vector Regression-Based Adaptive Divided Difference Filter for Nonlinear State Estimation Problems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
We present a support vector regression-based adaptive divided difference filter (SVRADDF) algorithm for improving the low state estimation accuracy of nonlinear systems, which are typically affected by large initial estimation errors and imprecise prior ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
