The Influence of the Pretreatment of Tool Steel on the Running‐In Phase of Diamond‐Like Carbon Coatings

The influence of tool steel pretreatment on the running‐in behavior of TiNb‐diamond‐like carbon (DLC) coatings is investigated. Ion etching promotes carbide protrusion and increases coating roughness, while post‐deposition polishing reduces surface asperities.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

A zeolitic framework co‐delivers a DNAzyme and a protein prodrug to tumour cells and executes a self‐amplifying therapeutic cascade: the DNAzyme elevates tumour oxidative stress to activate a caged RNase A prodrug. This spatiotemporally controlled synergy converts a genetic input into potent enzymatic cytotoxicity, suppressing tumour growth.

Board Independence and Adjustment Speed of CEO Inside Debt

European Financial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We find that firms with more independent directors adjust CEO inside debt towards an optimum more quickly. This effect is more pronounced in financially unconstrained, growth, and under‐levered firms, and also firms led by more powerful or overconfident CEOs.
