Turning Cold Tumors Into Hot Tumors: Implications for Cancer Therapy

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
Barrier‐defined strategies for cold‐to‐hot tumor conversion. Cold tumors include immune‐desert and immune‐excluded states marked by poor antigen visibility, limited T‐cell priming, stromal or vascular exclusion, metabolic stress and suppressive immune programs.

Real‐Time, Inline Quantitative MRI Enabled by Scanner‐Integrated Machine Learning: A Proof of Principle With NODDI

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 2, Page 986-995, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose The clinical feasibility and translation of many advanced quantitative MRI (qMRI) techniques are inhibited by their restriction to ‘research mode’, due to resource‐intensive, offline parameter estimation. This work aimed to achieve ‘clinical mode’ qMRI, by real‐time, inline parameter estimation with a trained neural network (NN) fully ...

Programmable van der Waals Heterojunction for Multifunctional Integration

open access: yesSmartMat, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
A MoS2/MAPbBr3 van der Waals heterostructure is programmed by gate bias to switch among photodetector, synaptic transistor, and gate‐bias‐assisted optical‐memory modes. Gate‐controlled carrier trapping tunes the response timescale, enabling mode reconfiguration in a single device.

Human Islet miR‐199a‐5p and miR‐214‐3p Associate With Donor Age, BMI, and Sex and Mediate Cellular Aging in Islet‐Derived Cells

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Human islets are widely researched to understand pathophysiological mechanisms leading to diabetes. Sex, age, and body mass index (BMI) are key donor traits influencing islet function, which is also regulated by an intricate network of microRNAs.

Coaxial Placement of Fogarty Catheter: A Simple Remedy for Incomplete Lung Isolation with DLT

open access: yesThe Indian Anaesthetists' Forum, 2015
Thoracic surgery requires lung isolation which is usually achieved by placing a double lumen tube (DLT). Correct placement of DLT is crucial for lung isolation. In this case report incomplete lung isolation with DLT was corrected using a Fogarty catheter

First‐In‐Human Study: Dose Expansion of E7130 in Urothelial Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 117, Issue 8, Page 2247-2258, August 2026.
The dose escalation part of the first‐in‐human study of E7130 in patients with advanced solid tumors determined the Recommended Phase 2 Dose of E7130 (480 μg/m2 Q3W). The dose expansion part (presented here) examined safety/preliminary efficacy in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck and urothelial carcinoma.

Disposcope endoscope guidance versus fiberoptic bronchoscopy guidance for double-lumen tube intubation in patients undergoing thoracic surgery: a randomized controlled non-inferiority trial

open access: yesScientific Reports
Double-lumen tube (DLT) intubation is frequently performed for thoracic surgery, and a fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) can improve the success rate of correct placement.

Identification of a Benzenesulfonylpiperazine Derivative With In Vivo Efficacy Against Visceral Leishmaniasis

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 108, Issue 2, August 2026.
This work highlights the satisfactory pharmacokinetic profile of two benzenesulfonylpiperazine lead candidates, followed by in vivo assessment in a murine model of visceral leishmaniasis. This assessment identified compound 2 as moderately active at a lower dose, but its efficacy increased at higher doses, though with concerns regarding safety.

Impressions that matter: How Italian SOEs construct a digital image through persuasive language strategies

open access: yesFinancial Accountability &Management, Volume 42, Issue 3, Page 396-411, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Rooted in the theoretical perspective of impression management, and drawing on the critical discourse analysis (CDA) approach, this study analyzes whether and how the Italian state‐owned enterprises (SOEs) in the energy sector over the period 2020–2023 use persuasive language strategies in their annual reports to portray the image of a ...

Dlt zeta functions

open access: yes, 2022
Xu (2016) defines the dlt motivic zeta function associated to a regular function f on a smooth variety X over a field of characteristic zero. This is an adaptation of the classical motivic zeta function that was introduced by Denef and Loeser (1998).
