Sulphur compounds, methane, and phytoplankton: interactions along a north–south transit in the western Pacific Ocean [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2013
Here we present results of the first comprehensive study of sulphur compounds and methane in the oligotrophic tropical western Pacific Ocean. The concentrations of dimethylsuphide (DMS), dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP), dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO), and ...

Raman Spectroscopic and Computational Analysis of the Effects of Noncovalent Interactions on DMSO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is a widely used chemical in synthetic chemistry and also has unique and important biological applications. In the pure liquid, DMSO forms chain like structures of alternating sulfur and oxygen atoms due to its high self ...

Palladium-Catalyzed Cascade Approach to 12-(Aryl)indolo[1,2- c ]quinazolin-6(5 H )-ones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A straightforward one-pot approach to the synthesis of challenging 12-arylindolo[1,2-c]quinazolin-6(5H)-ones is described. Starting from readily available o-(o-aminophenylethynyl)trifluoroacetanilides, palladium-catalyzed aminoarylation of the triple ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

UV-B induced alteration of oxygen evolving reactions in pea thylakoid membranes as affected by scavengers of reactive oxygen species

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2014
The effect of UV-B irradiation at temperatures of 22 and 4 °C on flash induced oxygen yields, photochemical activity, and energy transfer in pea thylakoid membranes in the absence and presence of scavengers of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was studied ...

17,β-estradiol inhibits hepatitis C virus mainly by interference with the release phase of its life cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Rationale & Aim: Estrogen and estrogen-mediated signalling protect from hepatitis C virus through incompletely understood mechanisms. We aimed to ascertain which phase(s) of HCV life cycle is/are affected by estrogens.

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Aromatic N versus aromatic F : bioisosterism discovered in RNA base pairing interactions leads to a novel class of universal base analogs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The thermodynamics of base pairing is of fundamental importance. Fluorinated base analogs are valuable tools for investigating pairing interactions. To understand the influence of direct base–base interactions in relation to the role of water, pairing ...
