Complementary DNA-DNA hybridization in Drosophila
Journal of Molecular Evolution, 1992We have performed DNA-DNA hybridization experiments among several species of Drosophila using the evolutionarily conserved portion of the genome representing sequences coding for amino acids of proteins. This was done by using as tracer, radioactively labeled complementary DNA that was reverse transcribed from adult mRNA.

Interaction of complementary RNA and DNA
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1964Double-strand formation occurs with high molecular weight DNA embedded in agar on incubation with either messenger RNA or sheared, denatured DNA. Both the DNA in the agar and the DNA fragments must be previously denatured for reaction to occur. The fraction of the total RNA in E. coli represented by the messenger type is about 1·3%.

Complementary strands of CELO virus DNA
Journal of Virology, 1975When alkali-denatured DNA from CELO virus (an avian adenovirus) was annealed for 15 min at 37 C in 0.1 M NaCl, 70% of the molecules formed single-stranded circles. This is probably due to base pairing of complementary sequences not more than 110 nucleotides long at the ends of the single strands and implies an inverted terminal repetition in the duplex
