Strategies for constructing complementary DNA for cloning
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1982Abstract We have examined alternative approaches to existing methods for synthesizing complementary DNA suitable for molecular cloning. One model of construction is presented in which ribonucleotides are added to the 3′ end of complementary DNA prior to synthesis of the second DNA strand.

Gene specific priming of complementary DNA synthesis
Molecular Biology Reports, 1976DNA, complementary to chicken globin mRNA was synthesized using either Avian Myeloblastosis virus reverse transcriptase, or E. coli DNA polymerase I. Transcriptase cDNA sediments at 9 S on sucrose gradients, and is 620 nucleotides in length, representing a complete copy of globin mRNA template. In contrast, Polymerase I cDNA sediments at 4 S, is 100 to

Nucleotide Sequence of Human Preproinsulin Complementary DNA
Science, 1980Recombinant bacterial plasmids that contain DNA complementary to human preproinsulin messenger RNA have been constructed. One clone contains the entire preproinsulin coding region, as well as the 3′ untranslated region of the messenger RNA and eight nucleotides of the 5′ untranslated region.

Patents on Random Complementary DNA Fragments?
Science, 1992The proposal by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to patent products resulting merely from sequencing the human genome is a mistake: at worst, it is wrong in patent law; at best, it relies on deficiencies in law concerning what is "useful" as a requirement for patents.

Nonrandom DNA sequencing of exonuclease III-deleted complementary DNA
Analytical Biochemistry, 1985The nonrandom DNA sequence analysis procedure of Poncz et al. [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 79, 4298-4302 (1982)] was extensively modified to permit the determination of complementary DNA (cDNA) sequences containing G-C homopolymer regions. The recombinant cDNA plasmid was cleaved at a unique restriction enzyme site close to the cDNA and treated with ...

Hybridization between rat liver DNA and complementary RNA
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1969Abstract The hybridization of rat liver DNA with complementary RNA has been studied using the membrane technique of Gillespie & Spiegelman (1965). Complementary RNA was synthesized in vitro using Micrococcus RNA polymerase and rat liver DNA. Hybridization was rather rapid, but only about 5% of the total DNA became involved in hybrid formation ...

Complementary DNA sequence of lamprey fibrinogen .beta. chain
Biochemistry, 1986The cDNA sequence of the beta chain of lamprey fibrinogen has been determined. To that end, an oligonucleotide probe was synthesized that corresponded to an amino acid sequence from the carboxy-terminal region of the lamprey fibrinogen beta chain. The insert actually began with residue 3 of the fibrin beta chain; it ran through to a terminator codon ...
