Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism Method for Initial Detection DNA Sequences Homogeneity

open access: yesHayati Journal of Biosciences, 2010
In molecular phylogenetic study, homogeneity of DNA sequences is a prerequisite before putting it into practice. Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) has been common in phylogenetic study, but a homogenous sequence is

First report of Erysiphe corylacearum on Corylus avellana in Poland

open access: yesActa Mycologica, 2023
Corylus avellana (common hazel) is an economically important plant worldwide, including Poland, especially for its fruits, i.e., hazelnuts. In addition to the hitherto commonly occurring fungal species Phyllactinia guttata , another species, i.e ...

Spatial organization of bacterial transcription and translation [PDF]

open access: yesProc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 113(33), 9286 (2016), 2015
In bacteria such as $\textit{Escherichia coli}$, DNA is compacted into a nucleoid near the cell center, while ribosomes$-$molecular complexes that translate messenger RNAs (mRNAs) into proteins$-$are mainly localized at the poles. We study the impact of this spatial organization using a minimal reaction-diffusion model for the cellular transcriptional ...

Sequence Analysis of the Internal Transcribed Spacer of Ribosomal DNA in the GenusRhizopus [PDF]

open access: yesMycobiology, 2005
The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions including the 3'-end of 18S rRNA gene, 5.8S rRNA gene and the 5'-end of the 28S rRNA gene of Rhizopus spp. were amplified by PCR and analyzed by DNASIS program. Length polymorphism of these region ranged from 564 bp in R. oryzae to 789bp in R. stolonifer.

Commuting to Work: Nucleolar Long Non-Coding RNA Control Ribosome Biogenesis from Near and Far

open access: yesNon-Coding RNA, 2021
Gene expression is an essential process for cellular growth, proliferation, and differentiation. The transcription of protein-coding genes and non-coding loci depends on RNA polymerases.

Optimal localization patterns in bacterial protein synthesis [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E 98(3), 032417 (2018), 2019
In $\textit{Escherichia coli}$ bacterium, the molecular compounds involved in protein synthesis, messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and ribosomes, show marked intracellular localization patterns. Yet a quantitative understanding of the physical principles which would allow one to control protein synthesis by designing, bioengineering, and optimizing these ...

Michaelmoelleria (Gesneriaceae), a new lithophilous dwelling genus and species with zigzag corolla tube from southern Vietnam [PDF]

open access: yesPhytoKeys, 2020
Michaelmoelleria, a new genus from southern Vietnam is described with a single species, M. vietnamensis. The new genus is morphologically most similar to Deinostigma and Tribounia but it differs from the latter two by having four fertile stamens. Nuclear

Physical modeling of ribosomes along messenger RNA: estimating kinetic parameters from ribosome profiling experiments using a ballistic model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Gene expression consists in the synthesis of proteins from the information encoded on DNA. One of the two main steps of gene expression is the translation of messenger RNA (mRNA) into polypeptide sequences of amino acids. Here, by taking into account mRNA degradation, we model the motion of ribosomes along mRNA with a ballistic model where particles ...

Physical Model of the Immune Response of Bacteria Against Bacteriophage Through the Adaptive CRISPR-Cas Immune System [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Biol. 10 (2013) 025004, 2014
Bacteria and archaea have evolved an adaptive, heritable immune system that recognizes and protects against viruses or plasmids. This system, known as the CRISPR-Cas system, allows the host to recognize and incorporate short foreign DNA or RNA sequences, called `spacers' into its CRISPR system.
