DNA-Assembled Chiral Satellite-Core Nanoparticle Superstructures: Two-State Chiral Interactions from Dynamic and Static Conformations

open access: yes, 2022
A significant challenge exists in obtaining chiral nanostructures that are amenable to both solution-phase self-assembly and solid-phase preservation, which enable the observation of unveiled optical responses impacted by the dynamic or static ...

Satellite DNA sites in four species of the genus Astyanax (Teleostei, Characiformes)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2007
Cytogenetic data about satellite DNA distribution in four Astyanax species (Characidae) from the Paraitinga river, Paraíba do Sul river basin, Brazil, are presented. In order to characterize the constitutive heterochromatin, C-banding, chromomycin A3 and

Highly Anisotropic Quasi‐Direct Organic Metal Halide Hybrids: A Platform for Polarization‐Sensitive Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
One‐dimensional C4N2H14PbBr4 is shown to have a quasi‐direct electronic band structure and strongly anisotropic transport with polarized broadband emission. A GW/Bethe–Salpeter excited‐state force formalism, supported by polarized Raman and temperature‐dependent photoluminescence, identifies low–frequency Pb–Br phonons that drive ultrafast exciton self‐

Reversal of terminal differentiation and control of DNA replication [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
DNA replication in mammalian cells occurs in discrete nuclear foci. Here we show that terminally differentiated myotubes can be induced to reenter S phase and show the same pattern of replication foci as cycling cells.

From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

N, S Co‐Doped Carbon Quantum Dots‐Riboflavin Composite Photosensitizers for Enhanced Iontophoresis‐Assisted Corneal Cross‐Linking

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores the use of N, S co‐doped carbon quantum dots (NS‐CQDs) as carriers for riboflavin, creating NS‐CQDs‐RF composite photosensitizers. These composites improve riboflavin absorption, enhance ROS generation efficiency, and preserve corneal epithelium integrity.

Self-amplification of satellite DNA in vitro.

open access: yes, 1998
We describe a PCR-like reaction in which genomic DNA acts as a template as well as a primer. Interaction between genomic tandem repeat units leads to self-amplification of satellite DNA.

Triple-Helical DNA in Drosophila Heterochromatin

open access: yesCells, 2018
Polynucleotide chains obeying Watson-Crick pairing are apt to form non-canonical complexes such as triple-helical nucleic acids. From early characterization in vitro, their occurrence in vivo has been strengthened by increasing evidence, although most ...

Recombination and the evolution of satellite DNA

open access: yesGenetical Research, 1986
SummaryIn eukaryotic chromosomes, large blocks of satellite DNA are associated with regions of reduced meiotic recombination. No function of highly repeated, tandemly arranged DNA sequences has been identified so far at the cellular level, though the structural properties of satellite DNA are relatively well known.

Perivascular Matrix Densification Dysregulates Angiogenesis and Activates Pro‐Inflammatory Endothelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Perivascular matrix densification promotes the emergence of aberrant endothelial tip cells (ATECs) that invade and persist within fibrotic microenvironments. Using in vivo lineage tracing and a human microvessel model, this study shows that fibrous matrix cues destabilize VE‐cadherin–mediated junctions to gate TGF‐β signaling, inducing a pro ...
